Spring 2009 Syllabi Online

Updated syllabi are online for my two spring courses. TELE-5990 is a special topics course on videogames and NMIX-4110 is the introductory level “new media production” class. The NMIX syllabus can also be found on the MyNMI website. The NMIX course is a prerequisite to the NMIX capstone course, which I will be running next fall. The only difficult aspect of all of this is that there are three sections of the 4110 course with 15 students per class. The capstone however, can at most only handle 25 students. Obviously the mathematics of that doesn’t completely work out, which means that many NMI students will have to “apply” to the capstone course. The upside is that we’ll get some of the best students in the capstone class. The downside is that some students will find themselves having a difficult time completing the NMI certificate.
I tend to think that this is simply more motivation for students to push themselves to produce quality work in 4110.
